As one Italian I don’t think anyone would laugh at you for misspelling a food name, I mean, as long as u enjoy the Italian food what’s the matter, so yeah, I actually appreciate tourist who come in Italy, I like when other people experience Italian food or see Italian stuff! Actually it’s called Alfredo and it was made by a man named Alfredo in Rome. His restaurant is also named Alfredo. They might give it other names in other regions, but in Rome and in Naples it’s called Alfredo. And no one will laugh and call you a tourist. We locals go to Alfredo’s for this dish all the time. It’s regained popularity in recent years. Now if you ask for a Carbonara with bacon, peas and cream… we will laugh at you. But we are not mean to our tourists. Well, in Venice they are, but in Venice they hate everyone, even other Italians. 😁
