This just proves that the writers are just sick. Whether it’s comics or prose or a movie or TV, having any character, much less the main character, eaten alive when it’s not specifically a horror story is just messed up. A super hero story used to have certain expectations such as the heroes eventually overcoming the odds and winning. Now I just expect half the characters to die in dome gruesome way only to return in the next reboot, or for spidey to have either his heart crushed figuratively or another body part eaten literally.

It’s telling that the first thing writers do in alternate universe stories is to maim or kill the characters horribly or turn them in to absolute monsters.

The writers also showed that that could have been any of the Spider-People if they wanted it to be. The same goes for them being written to uncharacteristically and equally foolishly leave one of their own behind, foolishly cause they do it as if they don’t generally understand their own biology.
