What does sentient mean. If it mean just thinking or feeling anything then not just humans are sentient. It means any animals who thought or felt anything. Like a squirrel or a rat would be persons with the same value as you and i


Rational thought: Okay, that's what makes you a person, then congratulation new born infants are now not person because that sentient and rational in that way. The thing is, anyone who try to define what a person is and try to exclude the unborn, they're either going to include animal, or there going to exclude born people like the disabled, or new born infants. And that's the problem with going through these definitions of person based not function or what you can do. A better definition is based on identity or what you are. And what you are is if you're a member of a human specie.
