Boolean Algebra Simplification Part 1

This is the first of several Boolean algebra simplification video. The Boolean algebra simplification examples shown in this video are fairly basic. More complicated ones can be found in other videos. It is assumed that you have a little bit of knowledge of Boolean algebra properties and theorems. Many common theorems are shown and used but not proven.

Thank you for these videos!  Even after an entire semester on symbolic logic, it's something that often has to be re-visited in higher level math/computing classes.  Examples like these help a whole lot to refresh these ideas, as often you just have to get to the point where you "see" where to go for the solution.

I have a question: in the example w=not u + u*notv the answer is not u+not v. Why is it so? Shouldn't it be = u+not v? According to the formula A+not A*B=A+B

in the example w=not u + u and not v cant u just apply the not u or u = 1 then the answer is not v??
