I have three dogs who like to run and play intensely in the backyard. They can really do damage to turf. I thought perhaps I'd have to treat it like a sports field but I think I am learning from this channel. When I finally do turn them loose on the new grass I have segmented off should I just watch for issues and diagnose them one at a time rather than assuming compaction will be an issue? I'm realizing commercial aeration for lawns rarely impacts enough of the surface area to have any effects at all and could save the sixty bucks a year. If I need it badly I should probably rent and do it myself or hire a teenager...

I think my main problem will be when it rains and if they want to play hard. Most damage is done when the ground is wet.
