Look and Feel
00:30 I prefer 6 string Ibanez but I’m a fan of Solar 7 string guitars
00:49 Deep front bevels
01:00 Completely flat back angles the guitar
01:30 3 way switch is sturdy
01:34 Output jack is in the worst place possible
02:12 Push pull tone potentiometer is too low friction, turns too easily

Playability
03:09 25.5” scale length is extremely comfortable
03:36 The Evertune bridge makes the shorter scale length viable
03:51 Deep bevels facilitate picking
03:59 Thinner neck than other Solars is super easy to play
04:37 Neck shifts frequently with temperature and humidity changes

Sound
04:58 How does it sound?

Clean Tones
05:05 Neck pickup
05:14 Split neck pickup
05:24 Neck + bridge pickup
05:35 Split neck + bridge pickup
05:45 Bridge pickup
05:55 Split bridge pickup

Distortion Tones
06:04 Bridge Pickup
06:12 Split bridge pickup
06:21 Bridge + neck pickup
06:29 Split bridge + neck pickup
06:39 Neck pickup
06:49 Split neck pickup

06:57 Doesn’t sound as clear as a 26.5” scale length 7 string

Comparing the V1.7, A1.7, and T1.7AC
07:18 V1.7 SVART+ demo
07:22 A1.7 demo
07:27 T1.7AC demo

07:31 Might use the V1.7 on an upcoming cover

Overall Thoughts
07:38 Why I wouldn’t buy this guitar again
08:10 Another miss with this guitar
08:15 Would I recommend this guitar?

08:24 Outro
08:40 Outro melody

Cool to spot some Mega Man melodies played here. Those themes are a masterclass in music composition. I hope to get a Flying V guitar someday, and this guitar looks neat

this one looks like it comes from the future =)
in terms of visual aspects, it truly got style and I think in terms of sound it is good in the middle: I think it could sound more clean especially for the harder rhythm section .o. thank you for the review!

Some guitarists what they do with the tone knob is they either swap it out for a 2nd volume knob, or they rewire it so it no longer does anything. I leave the tone knob alone but I never use the tone knob for most of my chugging rhythm stuff.

Newbie question on the coil split wiring: when the pickup selector is in middle position and tone knob is pulled up for coil splitting - does that split the bridge only or the neck only?

At 5:35 the caption is Split neck + bridge pickup, and at 6:29 Split bridge + neck pickup - are both pickups split in middle position?

Sick looking V. Have you had any of the notorious fretboard issues with any of your Solars?

I tried a Solar 7 in a shop and it was the thinnest neck on a guitar I’ve ever tried haha

Just go in the control cavity and clip the capacitor on the tone pot. You'll still be able to use the push pull, but it will nullify the tone control. I've done it a few times as I can't stand it being knocked down

I personally like 25.5 (since I find I do fret 3-5-7 often). Do you know which brands (aside from Ibanez) that still make 25.5 7-string?
