Android Studio 4.0 Tutorial - Part 2

Today's Android Studio tutorial shows how to add items to a RecyclerView using Kotlin. We'll start with a data class that holds are data names and types, then create a listOf before passing in a list of FoodItem's.

Then we'll assemble our data into the RecyclerView we created in the last Android Studio 4.0 tutorial. When we run it in the emulator you'll see our "random" data appear in rows on the virtual device.

Question? Leave comments below and follow me on Twitter for the greatest food pics

Hello sir, great video, I have a tutorial suggestion. Make a video on how to pagination realtime database data from adapter class in recyclerview, load certain amount of data before then loading more after scrolling to bottom

I used the 'Empty Activity' template to start from and it did not create a 'content_main'. I tried to put the goto button in activity_main.xml and could not reference it from MainActivity.kt. I even tried it with the 'Basic Activity' template which creates both 1st & 2nd fragment and the content_main & activity_main xml's but could not call the button from MainActivity.kt like you did at 8:30. Oh, nevermind, I'm refering to the 2020 videos.

Me and my colleagues really love your video because you're easy to understand. Thank you . My team is working towards helping people and solving problem this pandemic and we seven have all subscribed .I have a quick problem though. Could you please add seller info(I mean seller name and phone number ) and rating cause I can't quite figure it out. I would be delighted if you added this. Thank you.

Hi Daniel! Thanks for this tutorial. I am getting stuck because typing in "foodItemTitle" after the itemview on the RestaurantsAdapter.kt does not auto-populate like it does when you type the name into Android Studio... I was following the previous Part 1 tutorial video and someone in the comments was able to help me out when this autofill option wasn't working. They noted that a new android studio update requires you to type (that was on the FirstFragment.kt in the part 1 tutorial). I think that I am encountering something similar here, but I am not sure what to type after itemview so that it registers the right id "foodItemTitle." Can you or anyone else provide assistance? Thanks!! I would really like to see the creation of this app through :)
