Psychedelics such as DMT have been hyped as wonder drugs for the treatment of depression, PTSD and other mental illnesses. The Olson lab's research is so interesting. I wanted to join them for my PhD but unfortunately got rejected, but I will continue keeping up with their research and maybe some day I can get in on it.

Psychoplastogen is such a great word! It'll be great if these compounds aid stroke and other traumatic brain damage...
According to that chart, psilocin should be less active as a plastogen since it's 4 - substituted...is it?(I think the OH is an exception)
Very cool, thanks again!

Everybody talks about this being a potential for depression, PTSD, etc - but what about people without these afflictions? How can it be beneficial for healthy minded people?

Id argue that ergolines are a more interesting addition to the human nervous system since AFAIK we dont have them (or something completely like it) in the brain. Also i think its right that for people who don't need intense problemsolving a low dose of something gaba-genic is probably more optimal that most peoples homeøstasis.

Why are some people not affected when they ingest Ayahuasca (DMT)? I know of a person who ingested increasing amounts of Ayahuasca over a 7 day period and the only effect was vomiting for each of the four sessions.

So i used 5meo to come off of methadone. Very small amounts results in zero withdrawal for hours i believe it has something to do with all of this

The answer is no, because most cases of depression and anxiety are caused because of damage to the gut
