덕수궁 미디어파사드... 전통의미를 현대화하다
Brace yourselves for some modern art meets traditional beauty.
One of Korea's centuries old grand palaces in downtown Seoul is lit up in vibrant colors tonight.
Our Lee Ji-won brings us a beautiful media facade against the canvas of Korea's ancient royal palace.
Deoksugung Palace, one of Korea's Five Grand Palaces, boasts new beauty as a media facade is displayed on the walls of Seokjojeon Hall.
The Western style building which used to be the sleeping quarters of King Gojong, boasts colorful graphics portraying the olden days.
Under this year's theme of "Seokjojeon, Reminiscence of Romance", this annual event aims to offer the audience with a chance to make unforgettable memories against the backdrop of the historic building.
"In the late 20th century, the palaces used to be popular date locations for couples. But they were overshadowed by other novel attractions. So we added various performances to revive the romance that once characterized the palace."
Vivid colors paint the sky in red and purple,... while flower petals dance in the air, creating a romantic atmosphere.
The media facade is made even more outstanding as it also features a performance by two dancers.
Passionate yet elegant, the dancers swing to the music and lights, adding a festive mood for spectators to enjoy.
"It's really nice to be out with my family. I especially enjoyed the 3D graphics and the music. I was mesmerized by the artistic beauty of the performance."
"The graphics were so real that I thought the tango dance was part of the display as well. The performance was also very eye-catching."
As part of the government's effort to foster more involvement in culture and arts, the media facade will run on every last Tuesday through Thursday of the month, until October. Lee Ji-won, Arirang News.
