Myanmar conflict: Arakan violence rises in Rakhine state

In Myanmar's Rakhine state, another ethnic group besides the Rohingya has been fighting for its rights and recognition.
The ethnic Arakan people have been battling the Myanmar government for decades, and in 2009 founded their own armed group, the Arakan Army, in 2009.
Thousands have fled the violence into neighbouring Chin State and are now living in camps because of the recent spike in violence.
Al Jazeera's Scott Heidler reports.

Myanmar is in the midst of a civil war. Neighbouring Bangladesh can exploit this situation. One US lawmaker even suggested making Rakhine part of Bangladesh.

Can anyone tell me how many rebel armies are there in Burma? They seem to be everywhere, north, south, east and west. Taken the world as a whole, Burma should win the gold medal by the number of rebel groups inside its borders.

Sad news: these people are not native arakanese they are Burman!

Native Arakan was a Hindu empire and they spoke an Indo-Aryan language similar to that of the Rohingya. The inscriptions and architecture of the empire is similar to that found in bengal, Cambodia and Indonesia which was also ruled by Indians before the arrival of mongoloids from China. It was Hindu, then Buddhist and then Islamic, the same as the history of bengal! The Rohingya re native to Arakan! And these people are Burman claiming Arakan- they look identical to the Rakhine people!
