Porsche Panamera vs Taycan - Test 1 Road Manners | Fifth Gear

The Porsche Taycan is generally considered to be the EV sports car of the moment. Incredible performance, 250 mile range, yet still a proper 4 seater. And the top of the tree Turbo S model is ballistic. Yes, it costs £140,000, but it has 750 hp, gets to 62 mph in 2.8 seconds and goes on to 162mph. Absolutely nothing can come close. Except perhaps, its petrol powered relative, the £140,000 Porsche Panamera Turbo S e-Hybrid. This boasts nearly 700 hp, gets to 62 in 3.5 seconds and goes on to nearly 200mph. And its lighter. Test 1 – road manners.

What u really need to know is that taycan are the most returned Porsche currently. Regular electric problems. I was going to swap to a taycan but soooo pleased I stayed pan turbo se. Hybrids awesome only wish I had the most recent larger battery, but they’re impossible to find. No such problem with taycan there’s loads around. There’s a reason for that.

The ancient gas sucking and unreliable Panamera likely consumed $300+ in fuel during this test while the Taycan consumed $10 in electricity yet the Taycan is no less capble or fun to drive. End of story.

I admit I stopped the video and went to do other stuff when I realized even the normal car was a hybrid. Hybrids/electics just do absolutely nothing for me. The laughable "we're going all electric in 10 years" is even worse.

Great, expensive to own and more expensive to maintain. GTS trim on the Panamera is good enough for me if I had the cash to blow, lol!

I hope Porsche make a full electric Panamera after 2030 because the Taycan although a great car is much smaller that the Panamera. I drove both and ended up with the Panamera, much better to drive, performance not much off the electric but nicer to live with.
