Hopefully this helps you process this small difference you've maybe never thought about. This shorter video helped me become acquainted with the new editing software I'm using now, and it's a topic I find really interesting. I'm planning on having some goodies in the new year. Happy New Year!

Turkic or Turkmen are newly created words from western historians. We call us centuries long only Turks!

In the Oguz Kagan Epic, which is the common epic of all Turkisc peoples, the Oghuz Khan divided the Turks into separate dynasties and named them, so there was diversity.

For this reason, Turkish discourse is not political, but because it is the truth of history. Why it is called Turkmen is also mentioned in the same epic Turkmen means similar to Turk

Very well explained. As a Turkish, it is sometimes tough to explain for me the difference between "Turkish" and "Turkic" groups, especially when "Türk" has the both meanings in my native language. This makes it much more clear and easier for me

Turkic is the exact same thing as Germanic, Slavic, Celtic, Sinitic, Baltic, Kartvelic, Hellenic etc. it is an ethno-linguistic group that means a group unified by both common language and ethnicity while Turkish is ethnic group just like Serbian, English or Latvian.

All the namings except Türk and Azerbaijani. Rest of the names are tribal names for instance Qazaq, Uighur, Kyrgyz etc. Since the history, even the Orkhon scripts Bilge Kaghan shouts all tribes in Turkic family as Turks. So we as Turks of Türkiye, are technically involving to Oghuz tribe. The name of Turk is an upper name to define our common nation. One more example, first written Turkic lexicon belongs to Mahmud Al Qashqari and name of his book is Diwan Al Lughat Al Turk. He defines all the tribes under one national name called Turk. So we are not Turkic or Turki. We are Turk

They are very similar on the whole, except for the highly divergent Chuvash language of the Volga region of Russia . I would say they differ less on the whole than say, the Germanic languages . They certainly aren’t all mutually intelligible, but it’s still quite easy for speakers of the different Turkic languages to learn one of those which are not immediately intelligible .
For example, there’s probably less difference between the Uighur language and the Turkish of Turkey than between German and Danish despite the fact that German and Danish are geographically right next to each other and Turkish and Uighur are geographically very distant .

In fact, there is no distinction in the Turkic languages family as yo u mentioned. Turkic/Turkish. They call themselves Turks
For instance
All Turkic people embrace the GökTürk Empire.
That means Gök = Sky, Holy Türk = Türk

We are Oğuz Turks in Türkiye. It can be said that we didn't use our clan name when we named our country.

Actually in middle age all Turkic language were called “turk/türk language” Thanks western world who is trying to separate us Turkic term were born and that’s why we in Türkiye still use Türk for all the other Turkic languages…for example the uzbek language is called uzbek turkish in Türkiye. We don’t call us self ottoman like most other Turkic states call them self after a tribe or kaganate we call us after our ethnicity Türk. A turk from anatolia is an ottoman turk, a turk from buhara or Tashkent is an uzbek turk.

Now those days turkey still leads to other turkic countries, they watch, listen and learn turkish media + that there is constitiution about standartation of turkish.

The problem with this terminology is that "Turkic" is a word used for the ones living in Turkey as well. Because according to this faulty terminology Turkey too is a Turkic country and people of Turkey are Turkic too. Here what we see is nothing but the replacement of the word "Turkish" with the word "Turkic". That creates a big confusion even in the minds of the Turks of Turkey. They tend to think that all the Turks from the other former Soviet republics and other ethnic Turks are called Turkic and the ones in Turkey on the other hand are called Turkish which is in great conflict with the original purpose of creating this terminology of Turkic. Moreover foreign sources call even the ancestors of the Turks living in Turkey Turkic and try to separate them from their ancestors as if they were different people which is tantamount to attempting to cut their links with their hisotrical roots and ancestors as if they suddenly popped up out of nowhere.

The reason why the ones in Turkey are called Turkish is simply because Turks are the ethnic group which has the overall majority in Turkey. It's a norm that the citizens of a country are called with the name of the ethnic group which has the overall majority in this country throughout the world In England for instance there were many many ethnic groups living as the citizens of this country. The people from England are all called English regardless their ethnicity. Here the "English" refers to their citizenship rather than their ethnicity. It's like that because foreigners just don't know which ethnic groups living in this country and the person before them is from which of these ethnic groups living as the citizen of England. That's why for them people who hold English passport are all English if they don't specifically mention their ethnicity. Yet English is also the name of an ethnicity. There are many many English people living Australia for example. Citizens of Australia are called Australian but the ones from English background call themselves English which shows the ethnicity they belong if they want to be more specific about their ethnicity. Australian citizens from Persian origin too can call themselves Australian Persian if they want to emphasize their ethnicity. This is same in all countries in the world.

Turkey didn't monopolize the word "Turk". Turkey was the only country where people from Turkish ethnicity ccould call themselves Turk. The rest of the people coming from Turkish ethnicity weren't allowed to use this word by their masters (Tzarist regime of Russia and communist rulers of Soviet Union and China) as they were all captive nations. That's the main reason of why they were unable to use their own ethnonym and had to content with the endonyms which their masters deem appropriate for them. Their masters' aim on the other hand was simply to assimilate those people from the same ethnicity by localizing them and cutting the links between each other in order to prevent them to form a common front against them.

Ataturk's remarks "Anyone who is feeling himself Turk is a Turk" means that there will be no discrimination among its citizens from other ethnic backgrounds than Turks and they will all have exactly the same rights with all of its citizens which is regarded as a norm today. But in the past the citizenship rights were very much related with the ethnicities of those people living in this country. It didn't have any intention to eradicate the people from other ethnic groups or making them all Turks. It was aiming to teach them the international norms as they were previously calling themselves Muslims which shows the religion they belong rather than their ethnicity and their citizenships.

The Turks in Anatolia weren't more mixed than the ones living in Central Asia. Because they had the overall majority in this country as early as the 13th century at least as European traveler Marco Polo testifies, and those Turks always lived as sovereign people. Their mixing with the local populations weren't more than the mixing of Central Asian populations who assimilated Mongolian and Tungusic peope who converted Islam through intermarriages.

The word Turkmen was initially used for the Turks who converted to Islam rather than just for the Turks from Oghuz tribe. At some point in history even Karakhanids too were called Turkmen as they converted to Islam. Later this word was used exclusively for the Turks from Oghuz tribe. However Ottomans weren't using this word only for the Oghuz. They were using this word for any of the semi-nomad Turkish tribes which has just arrived Ottoman Empire not just for the Oghuz. It was a word showing a particular life style rather than their tribal affiliations.

This actually even gets worse. Because inside Turkey each political faction has a different definition for Turk. For seculars it's like the constitution says they wrote them, but for islamists a Turk must be muslim. For turanists a Turk must be Turkic. Oh yeah, we use Turan actually to refer to broader Turkic nations, but it's ironic that term is Persian.

There is no distinction between Turkish and Turkic. "The definition of Turkish was invented by Soviet and western ethnologists to serve political purposes and to divide Turks. Peoples who speak the Turkish language are called Turks. The difference is due to the dialects and accents in which the same language is spoken. The language of all Turks is Turkish. etc.) have a common history, language, culture and Memes. The common spirit and national consciousness is high.
In order to support the freedom struggle known as "Basmacı" against the Russian occupation in Turkestan at the beginning of the 20th century, volunteers from the Ottoman state came to Turkistan, where they saw their spiritual homeland, and supported their cognates.
The proof of this is that the rulers of the states/empires they have established throughout history have supported each other in case of any attack against these countries from foreign powers, although these brother states have been fighting each other with the greed for power. The government of Bukhara in Turkestan (present-day Uzbekistan) sent 100 million gold rubles to provide financial aid to Anatolian liberation war (1919-22). (This aid was given to the Moscow government to be given to the Anatolian Turks. Lenin sent only 10 million rubles of this money to Anatolia, but 2:38 confiscated 90 million rubles.)
The ties of the Turks in the West have never been broken with their cognates living in the east of the Caspian. The USSR administration, especially between the years 1920-40, worked intensively to break the ties of the Turkish peoples with Turkey and with each other. They changed their alphabet. Then he tried to create different languages by playing with the grammar of the dialects and accents they used. The aim was to break up the Turks by creating multi-ethnic societies/states in the Turkish geography. However, 100 years ago, a caravan departing from Istanbul could travel to the city of Kashgar, in the west of China, speaking the same Turkish. The newspaper "Tercüman", which was published in Crimea until 1914, was read in all Turkish geographies where Turks lived. Thank goodness the hard times are in the past. The common national consciousness of the Turkish world has taken action again. Especially the youth with high national sensitivity and the intellectuals of those brotherly countries are working to establish a Turkish union similar to the EU. The future is pregnant with good days for the Turkish world.
