The interesting thing about Zoidberg and his species is that they are a race of brutal warriors and conquerors. In one episode, the decapodians take over Earth because Zoidberg was sentenced to death. Zoidberg confirms that freedom is a rare thing on his home planet, and their mating season includes ritualistic fights to the death. Decapodians have several backups to their organs, which might lead Zoidberg to ask if disemboweling is fatal in humans. Adding in the fact that their hands are deadly weapons, they have natural armor, and even an ink sac, the decapodians are actually a terrifying species. Hell, we've seen Zoidberg, who isn't even a trained fighter, battle a robot mafioso and yetis. Zoidberg is kind of a badass in his own right

The nutcracker was actually a good weapon against zoidberg. The other two wouldn't deal as much damage to zoidberg's tough shell and Fry stupidity and clumsiness would've made him cut off his own arm or worse.
