For people who want to get into programming in c++ and have no idea about how to program and have not background of programming what so ever. This is the first of the series and the programming tutorial will be more and more advanced in the future videos. This is just a kick off to the series. If you like it I will be making a lot more in the series. Just one request is good enough.

Notes:

How to change environmental variables:

Windows xp:
1. Click on start menu
2. Right click my computer
3. Click on properties
4. Click on advanced tab
5. Click on Environmental variables at bottom right hand corner
6. You are adding to the path variable so find path variable from the system variables list at bottom box and double click it to open.
7. To add the c++ compiler binary if you installed it in c: add a semicolon and give the path to bin sub folder in mingw folder.
8. Click all the way back, restart if necessary.

I am on Mac ( late 2011 unibody) and I've been looking into programming off and on. I've only been using xcode but I've seen other videos but mac related. Even though this video is shot using windows, I just tried it in xcode and it made it so much easier than what I've been doing.

well for those of us having problems downloading, after downloading the general pack suite, one has to choose specifically which compiler to install, i.e. I chose the g++ compiler, then installed it using the "installation" button in the top left corner.
Everything worked perfectly well afterwards.

I've found an easy way to keep track of where program files are saved. Once the window pops up with the program installation location, click on the window. Then hold down the "alt" and "prt sc" (print screen) keys. Then open the Paint program. Paste and the window will show up. Then save as whatever you wish to name the screen shot. I prefer Program Name Installation Location and keep the screen shots in a folder titled Program Installation Locations. Also comes in handy for deleting any unwanted programs that don't show up in the Change/Uninstall a Program function.

Thank you it really baffled me whether I should put a semicolon after a slash but when you showed me this I was like "well this is prgramming we're talking here of course this makes sense". Main problem I have now though is I deleted my Path variable in an attempt to try out different ways of getting that C++ working.

I think anyone who is interested in learning programming, especially c/c++ should go ahead and make the effort to switch to Linux. It's a far friendlier platform for the developer.

It's difficult to learn programs with your own by internet. You should know some basics to improve your knowledge with some tutorials.  I know nothing about programming but i have seen some tutorials and understood nothing. I don't know how to have this black file in my computer and when you write code, then? what happens? Where can you use your code? I think i need something different to start
