In the United States, the first St. Patrick's Day celebrations date back before the Revolutionary War. What new facts did you learn about the history of this Irish cultural celebration? ☘️

For those who are still unsure why us Irish celebrate St Patrick’s Day think of it as a day celebrating Irish culture and who we are as a people (not all about leprechauns and green beer)
Originally started off religious but now more about Irish traditions, music and culture. 70 million diaspora worldwide having a chance to re connect to their Irish heritage.
It’s our own version of 4th of July, Canada Day, St George’s Day (England) St David’s Day (Wales), Waitangi Day (New Zealand) etc.

What's with all the mean-spirited/hyper-critical comments in the comment section? Can't we just enjoy Irish culture for a day over a nice stout without having to be bombarded by cynical killjoys?

My birthday is exactly 280 days from St. Patrick's day which also happens to be the human gestation period.
