For those who want to jazz up their progression... Take these (tritone) substitutions and put them in your chord vocabulary:

1) Instead of playing C7, try F#13 (resolving the 13 into the 5)
2) Instead of playing E7, try A#13 (resolving the 13 into the 5) OR E7#9

Also... The original chord in bar 15 is Am with a b7.

I question whether or not the people making comments criticizing the triplet drum fills, 'hi-hat slurring' are even musicians. It's laughable. It would be almost impossible for anyone playing along with this track to avoid them completely. Musicians remind each other, spur each other on and give the rest license to expand with their harmonic and rhythmic phrasing/interpretations. The purpose of a track like this is to use rhythmic phasing peculiar to this hip hop type beat with appropriate harmonic content. I 've been unhappy with all my efforts to 'meld' with this track even though I've been playing this song for 50 years since it first came out with both R&B and Jazz chord changes. I can 'jam' to it, but not in the way I would like to. So it is a pop R&B 60s hit, reharmonized in a Jazz mode with added and changed 2-5s, with a hip-hop beat and tempo and I love it. I just can't groove with it, sadly. It is not complicated harmonically or in any other way. The syncopated funky guitar groove along with the drums reinforcing with triplets twice during the sequence keeping it grounded is delicious. Too much jazz harmony following the chords and it sounds weak, too much blues harmony and phasing it is boring.I have never been this vexed with such a simple problem, with a simple tune, especially in such a common key. I would love to hear a few good solos done over this track. It is a great track worthy of a really good solo, needing very tasteful harmonic and Jazz/Blues rhythmic feel, but I'll bet they would be hard to find.
