pro tip: check where the hat was made. That’s why some hats fit different in each size 😊 -former LIDS manager

I use dollar store shoe insoles instead of paper. You can cut them to the right size and slide them in the back slots. You can also cut a longer strip and place it in the front so it's more comfortable

Bro. I will forever buy a size just a little loose because that paper towel trick is so much better than a tight fit. Thank you! The hats I get are Acrylic and can't be shrunk.

Dude you are the man! The paper towel trick works. Just tried and saved me from returning an online purchase and having to wait 2 more weeks to get the same hat. Great channel.

Great tips!

I’ve always done the paper towel thing, except I put it on my forehead, and not tucked in. This way, it also helps keep the hat clean from sweat.

Another solution is using a thin neck gaiter as a bandana of sorts. It all fits underneath, so it looks much better than a doorag or bandana, and definitely helps fill in the cap. Plus, it also keeps the cap clean.

I've always used strips of cardboard, works ! Just cut 3 inches like your paper & paper towels. Put in hat. Today I'm gonna sew it in my husband's new fitted hat.

Appreciate this! I’m getting pretty old so I’ve mostly moved on to the 39Thirty stretch hats but I still have a couple of fitted Mets hats that I’m going to apply this trick to. Thank you for the info!

I wear a 7 5/8 and I feel you I got some hats that fit perfectly and other ones that fit kinda loose. You don't want it cutting off your circulation but don't want it falling off your head either . If you can fit one finger between your head and the sweatband then your doing ok .

I recently bought a boonie hat online, but not without measuring my head first. The measurement I came up with translated to a 71/2" hat size. So, that's what I bought. The boonie hat is 1/4" size too large. I searched online, including YT, for a DIY solution to making the hat fit my head, since I didn't want to order another hat. I came across your video. However, it wasn't until the 10:01 mark, where you flashed the Amazon link that triggered an idea. I searched through a bag of random tools, screws, and other miscellaneous items and found a package of fury furniture feet with adhesive backing. I wound up applying three to the rear of my boonie hat, but evenly spaced, as well as doubling up each. Then I used hot glue to adhere them to the nylon, since hot glue sticks very firmly to nylon. Now, the hat is comfortable and I don't have to buy a new one. Thanks for help.

a hat can only shrink so much, remember that. I wear 7 5/8 when my hair is short and 7 3/4 with long hair. I always wear my hat a little lose, otherwise is headache time

Good tips man. The 59Fifty is hand-stitched, which is why the same sizes fit different. At least that’s what they told us back in the day when I worked for HatWorld.

Early today, I came to a new era store and I didn't found my size in a Chicago Sox cap, it was two sizes bigger, but you gave me hope, tomorrow I'll buy it!

I got a Cooperstown Expos hat on sale for 16 bucks but it was like 3 sizes too big so I looked up if its possible to shrink a hat and saw this video, now it fits like it’s my size!

I'll give you E for effort and enthusiasm. Another easy solution is to get some window insulation foam that is usually gets used to insulate window frames . You cut it to size then peel off the tape and attach it to the inside part of the hat. Easy peasy. It works simple. Thanks.

Glooking for the tips, the paper solution (step 1) was the favorite one and works perfectly. Im between size 7 1/8 and 7 1/4. 7 1/8 is a bit too small for me but 7 1/4 is a bit too big on me. Used the 1st solution and now they fit perfectly on my head. 👍
