Today is the birthday of Scottish singer Lulu! As many of you know, Lulu was one of the regular performers on The Ray Stevens Show in 1970. Here she is being introduced by Ray before performing the song "Saved" (which was written by Jerry Leiber & Mike Stoller) from her "Melody Fair" album.

Wow! I watched every episode of this show back in 1970 but never saw any clips from it until recently. Brings back great memories.

Beautiful time when you can sing and talk about Christianity right on TV and people didn’t complain.

The song and the performance are a pure mockery. Obviously, neither the singer nor the writer had a clue what they were making fun of. i hope they have all learned better since then.
