This is my first hands-on video about the Akai MPK Mini Play Mk3 keyboard (not the Akai MPK Mini MK3). The Akai MPK Mini Play Mk3 is a small, light, and cheap keyboard that Akai makes. The Akai MPK Mini Play Mk3 has onboard sounds and a built in speaker. Yes, this keyboard has a speaker! In this video you can hear the Akai MPK Mini Play Mk3 sounds and I walkthrough all the best features including DAW control. I discuss the features, the size, the feel, and demo some sounds included with the MPK Mini Play MK3 keyboard. The Akai MPK Mini Play Mk3 has lots of features including an arpeggiator, note repeat, drum pads, encoder knobs, and more. You can hear the onboard sounds as well. As a guitarist primarily I took one of my looper pedals and ran the headphone out of the mini play to its input. I then record a drum track using the pads. Afterward, I can add infinite number of melody tracks as well as more drum overlays. Easy way to make a song if pc not available.

Amazing review Sanjay! The fact the Akai MPK Mini play MK3 comes with onboard sounds and a built in speaker, along with the ability to save our presets for quick access makes this midi Keyboard user friendly.

What a great in depth review. I don't see it replacing my minilab but...BATTERIES! This looks nice for an on the plane/train/bus person that likes to play.

This paired with a portable battery pack would be pretty sweet! And you're absolutely right - adding effects to the built-in sounds really does make them sound better! This could also be a great option for a secondary instrument for gigs (for horn players, acoustic drummers to be able to add electronic drums easily and inexpensively) ...while keeping your expectations in check, that is!

I've just ordered it! I hope I'm going to be happy enough with it to keep it, so excited right now! It seems like a very good option for absolute beginners and given the price I can afford some studio hours for taking my skills forward on more sophisticated gear while figuring things out at home with the Mini Play. Being able to have it on the go is an amazing feature!

Thanks Sanjay, you're gret help, as always! AKAI Mini Play seems to be the perfect little AIO Retrowave / Synthwave factory, while being sold for nearly the same price as the non-play model + runs on normal AA batteries (unlike the non-play model) = instant buy!

OMG, it took AKAI 7 years after Yamaha released Reface DX / CS / YP to realize that portablility + built-in sound = AWESOME.
Let's hope it doesn't take them 7 years to release a Play verion of the 37-key MPK, too :)
(PS: Yamaha Reface DX is super awesome, and has my unending love. I have LPK25 too, and I'm buying this thing as well).

Thanks Sanjay. I bought a Yamaha Psr-e473 for $370. The synth snobs will no doubt start wailing but that thing is insane fun. Audio and MIDI over USB.

having built-in sounds and drums on this keyboard is underestimated, never has it been more disappointing when a family member wants to try your keyboard on when you get it on christmas and you have to say it doesn't do sounds at all and has to be plugged on a computer lol
