It's almost like most cheap, Chinese-made electronic testing devices like that might just have a margin of error, and given your scale extends from 0 to "over 2000", the difference between 48 and 51 on that scale would be 0.3125% ... something tells me that the margin of error on that plastic handheld Chinese-made mass-produced trinket is well above that... probably even well above 1%

Maybe try taking the average of 3 or 5 consecutive tests of the same water sample. I'll bet you don't get the same reading twice in a row.
