Somethin' Else - Eddie Cochran Cover - Jez Quayle Rock and Roll

Is this Eddie Cochran's best song? I think it's easy to forget that this fantastic number came long before all of that power chord driven, punk and heavy rock. 'Somethin' Else' was co-written by Eddie's girlfriend, Sharon Sheeley, together with his older brother, Bob Cochran. The legendary Earl Palmer played drums on the Cochran recording, whilst Eddie sang and played guitar, and later overdubbed a bass guitar part. Earl played drums on all of Little Richard's classic, early recordings. The song peaked at No. 22 on the UK Singles Chart in 1959, but only reached No. 58 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States. My version here is deliberately a little slower than Eddie's recording - it just seemed to sound better played slower on acoustic guitar.
