From Spain to Singapore | Here To Stay

I came for love, it wasn't just love for my wife, but also for this country' quips Leonidas as he recounts on his nine years in Singapore. He ponders on his complex, "multinational" identity, the love that he's grown to have for Singapore, its people, its language, and incorporating all that he holds dearly into his play, Localised.

This was beautiful…. One of the best profiles of someone who really integrated himself into the community with love and respect.

So glad someone shares my opinion that Singlish is a gem that is uniquely Singaporean and should be treasured

He is more heartlanders than many local here who just focus on academics and financial n forget to build n contribute a social fabric like him..today many locals make friends based on calculated values, , what’s in there for all..

Sometimes we need to have localized "foreigners" to let local Singaporeans appreciate the life we have here. You can complain but dont complain so much lah.. 😅😉

Glad to see Leonidas being able to immerse comfortably into the Singapore society; and thank you, Asia One, for sharing another wonderful story of foreigners making Singapore their new home.

I wish you wouldn't mind my sharing something on grammar with fellow Singaporeans:
1:00 "I lived in Singapore for 9 years plus". This sentence means he's not living in Singapore anymore. It should be "I have lived in Singapore for 9 years plus". It means he's still living in Singapore.
(1) He learnt English in school = He learnt English in school in the past but now he doesn't.
(2) He has learnt English in school = He started learning English in the past in school and he is still learning English in school now.

I am frank. Spanish language is very popular both in Singapore & India. And the one other european language in India is french. But there are other things which are french by nature in India and very popular. Like south Indians live in gare du nord in paris. And french litterature is very popular. But yes my ncert textbook says american influence in India is highest. Higher than british influence. Other than the english language which the brits left there is also the omlette made with eggs first used in china

his wife is Singaporean thus he's son in law of Singapore. Doesn't matter where he is from anyway. He should now know in Singapore every man or woman who is slightly older is being called uncle or aunty irregardless of their skin colour.
