My father used to fly RC planes (and real planes - more on that later) until he crashed his last one - a Cessna 172, I believe; that was over 40 years ago - and gave up in favor of flying real planes (and not crashing them). But he still liked RC models, so on occasional - and much-dreaded - Saturdays, he would drive the family to the closest RC field, park at the flightline fence, and watch people flying their models ALL AFTERNOON. He would pay eager and avid attention to the 'action, ' while my mother and sister read books and I silently begged for SOMEBODY TO CRASH.
He eventually moved on to parking by the runways at small local airports to watch the much-less-frequent takeoffs and landings, meaning there was even less going on and now I couldn't wish for ANYONE to crash. God bless him, he truly loved flight.
