The Top 5 5th Generation Fighters in 2021:

Given the recent rise in global tensions, some would argue that we are entering into a new cold war era, and as a result a new arms race has kicked off. This is evidenced by the almost prolific new weapons platforms that are being introduced, and at the forefront of this is of course fighter plane development. Today, the cutting edge of fighter plane design is represented by what is collectively known as fifth generation fighters. A fifth generation fighter can be defined as having some or all of the following characteristics: developed mostly or exclusively in the 21st century, making extensive use of stealth, the ability to super cruise, advanced avionics, sensor fusion allowing for networking with other battlespace elements, and low probability of intercept radar or LPIR. Today we will take a look at the Top 5th generation fighters in service along with some that may be entering service soon.

The SU-57 shouldn't be placed so high up. Russia has not built enough of them for them to matter and it cannot build many more because of economic reasons. Its the same as the Armata prohect.

I have the privilege of seeing F22’s, F35’s, F16’s flying out of the Savannah Georgia airport, they fly out over the Atlantic Ocean for air to air combat training, although at 5:30 am, which they sometimes takeoff at, is not so much of a privilege.

How did u put the J-20 in front of the F35 it hasn't even proved its stealthy, Indian AF pilot reported it can see the j-20 with regular radar.. and the engine it's not 5th gen. Yet...the f-35 has proven its stealth and in redflag had 20:1 kill ratio and the sensor fusion it has man u got to be kidding me.

The F-35 should've scored higher in my opinion, but most of the things that put it above the others are classified.

It is crazy though how every plane on this list other than the su-57 was only made possible by that data breach

J-20 isnt exactly a 5th gen. Its massive, and its, engines, avionics are pretty horrible. Its basically a bad ass 4th gen, with internal weapons bay.

The F-35 is definitely ranked too low, I mean seriously? It's the most produced 5th gen fighter out their and it's cheaper than a Rafale. It's in service with multiple countries and has already seen combat. While none of the other aircraft minus the F-22 of course have seen combat yet

The F-35 should be the #1. It is the most capable 5th Generation available and 600+ have been built.

That the two Chinese aircraft don't appear to have any cannon armament makes me wonder if they're making a similar mistake to that of the US back in the Cold War when they went all-in on missiles only for it to prove problematic during the Vietnam war.

The Raptor is, and definitely SHOULD be #1 . I would agree with the Felon being #2, but the rest is a little fuzzy, but on the same note, I understand the shortage of 5th generation aircraft with an operational / combat record to stand on .
