BBL clarification and update! I’m really happy with how the hyperpigmentation decreased even though there were a few stubborn spots that remained. The majority of my criticism comes from almost no improvement in the broken capillaries and the feelings of desiring more transparency from my provider. But I’m really happy I did the three sessions and I’m looking forward to trying Halo laser soon.

Your skin is vastly improved. Beautiful! As a woman in her 70s who has used lasers over the years, improving your skin is an ongoing process. The pigmentation and capillaries will fade or may even disappear, however over time, even with the very best sun protection, they will come back. The good news is that they will never be as prominent as before.

Very good and honest review. You’re extremely correct in holding the dermatologist office accountable. I’m currently scheduled for a BBL at the end of the month but will call the esthetician and question her about not doing it during summer and I live in FL! I do want a laser but not during summer if it’s gonna affect results. So frustrating! Thank you for this review.

I cannot imagine how a provider wouldn't listen to you. I love that you are so transparent about cost and advocating for yourself and ultimately all of us. You hit the nail on the head about scaling back on products and saving towards procedures for the results you want. It's so unfortunate that they had no idea what to do with your skin and your expectations. Isn't that their specialty?! 🙄🤔😳. It's not like you went to a foot doctor asking about BBL! C'mon people, get your stuff together! I appreciate you sharing and providing the results over time.

i'm a derm nurse and one of the most important things I tell my clients who have concerns of hyperpigmentation, melasma, sun spots etc is the importace of wearing a good zinc oxide based SPF 6% or greater. Ideally it has a tint in it as well. Reapply every 2 hours and let set for 20 mins before sun exposure, or putting makeup on. Secondly, despite your effort of hats, spf, shade etc you pigmentation will come back and just like you have to keep going to the dentist to ger your teeth cleaned you will have to keep going to your derms office to get your skin "cleaned" too, pigmentaion will always come back. Sucks but its just a fact. Try the clear and brilliant permea laser for pigment and the VBEAM laser for capillaries. Way better than BBL.

Also, thank you for being so forward with the providers! It's such an awkward situation. I am well spoken but I live in the south and people can be very judgy. I didn't want to gain some sort of difficult reputation at the place I go to. A lot of women struggle to speak up for themselves so thank you for being so helpful!

I literally just had my 3rd BBL last week. Same concerns - some hyperpigmentation but mostly redness / broken capillaries (telangiectasia, I think they’re called). Anyway - yes, did the package deal and also disappointed with results - especially with the redness issue. Not really enough improvement to justify the cost.

I already know I can’t handle the down time / recovery from Halo but super interested in the outcome of yours!

I had a similar experience where my practitioner told me she’d like me to try a product that’s supposed to help with recovery from laser treatments (Alastin Nectar). She had the receptionist pull it for me, and she rang it up when I went to pay before leaving. The product was $200 for an ounce! 🙄 … and I paid for it and left, like a friggin sheep.

As you know, there’s not much “recovery” from BBL- and, shocker, the product didn’t do anything special for me that I can tell.

Anyway - LOVING your channel and don’t understand why you’re not at 1M followers yet. You’re amazing. Keep the vids coming!

I met with an aesthetician just today, and she told me she didn't want to start BBL with me now because my treatments would run through the summer. Instead, she recommended waiting until around November to start. Your video reinforced what she said. Thanks!

I had a halo laser first which for $1500 included the first BBL treatment. The BBL treatment did not include the 30 minute freezing treatment and it was extremely painful. This morning I had my second BBL with the pre-freeze and got through it just fine. If my skin looks like your after I will be thrilled.
Side note: I had a treatment for broken capillaries before. It was a sharp instrument attached to an electrical current. She zapped those suckers and they were gone!!

This is very interesting. I have never heard of BBL but cool to see your story. I’m too scared for any of these kinds of treatments though

Thank you for sharing your experience! I've had IPL in the past and Fraxel Dual more recently. I'd say my results from IPL were comparable to yours from BBL-- not much downtime, but also not a great payoff. I think Fraxel Dual and Halo are pretty comporable with respect to cost, intensity, and downtime, and I'd say it's definitely been worth it in my opinion for pigmentation. One big thing that I've learned just looking into laser treatments is that the provider can make a big difference because they control the settings used, number of passes, etc. More intense treatments like Fraxel and Halo carry more risk, so I think really trusting your provider is key. It's crazy to me that your BBL provider didn't warn you about post-treatement sun exposure, and I think it could be worth looking into seeing someone else that you really feel comfortable with. Also, while I don't have any personal experience, I know there are vascular lasers like VBeam that specifically target hemoglobin, and you might have better luck with those for redness. From what I've read, these treatments seem to be well tolerated too. Could be worth looking into!

I pretty much had the same experience with BBL. Just finished my 3rd treatment two months ago. Unfortunately, I saw almost 0 improvement. That's just way too much money to lose and have nothing to show for it. The PA-C doing my treatments was great. She offered to give me a 4th BBL treatment for free. I thought about it but had no confidence a 4th treatment would do anything. I asked if she could deduct the free BBL treatment she offered on a Halo treatment. She agreed plus gave me a huge discount on top of that! She said she really wants her patients to be pleased with their results. Especially because treatments are expensive. I am scheduled for Halo February 15th. I look forward to seeing your Halo experience. Thank you for posting your BBL journey with all of us. You do have beautiful skin by the way. (= Good luck

I'm 62, and I just finished my 3rd BBL. I have a lot of hyperpigmentation, mostly clusters on my temples and brown spots on cheeks. Here's what I told my family: let's be honest, they are literally burning the layers off my skin, and it hurts like crazy. The first time I almost jumped off the table. This was with numbing gel. I hate to think what it's like without 😮❤️‍🔥. The results are good, but not what I want so far. We'll see, but I think I'm going to need something more. I wish they would just put me under and peel it off 😂 (BTW, I have never had any treatment. I have great genes, and most people think I'm in my 40's.)
