If the "new" covers were the ones I was introduced to as a kid, I would have probably never read Goosebumps. Tim Jacobus understands how to create **atmosphere.**

The OG covers for the win. The new ones have their own cool to them, I don’t hate them, they just feel like fan art tributes of the originals.

The art of Tim Jacobus is way superior, I could love a Goosebumps animated series in that style

As much as I like the 2008-2015 new covers. I’ve always and still do love the original Tim Jacobus covers WAY more, they have such a great art-style to it that pulls you into reading it while keeping that 90s aesthetic to it.

I also love the backgrounds of those Tim Jacobus covers as well, they look and feel so genuine.

I'm not a 'new=bad' guy. New covers look good on their own. I just like the old ones better for being more realistic and creepier.
I think the purpose of the cartoonier look of the new covers was to insure buyers that they're for kids so parents can know that they're safe for their 7 to 12 year old. They're not bad covers either. I like the 50s sci-fi/horror movie text for the titles too.
But I don't like that they changed the Goosebumps logo. That was a stupid move. You had this iconic, recognizable, brandable logo. What was wrong with it? Why change it? And of all the colors to make your gooey text, why white?

The og horror at camp jellyjam art was unsettling and didn’t have away the twist

Not the scariest, but the coolest book cover will always be the classic Attack of the Jack O Laterns book cover. It looks so cool.

Those original covers were SO GOOD. Even the backgrounds were amazing

The originals are my favorite. Both artist are great in their own ways, but the realism, finer details, and less saturated colors appeal to me more than the saturated cartoony style. I also appreciate the covers that don’t just try to recreate the original, like in Monster Blood.

The new horror at camp jellyjam cover literally gives away the plot

When I was growing up in the early 2010's, the Tim Jacobus covers were all we had in our library. I recognize a few of the new covers, but we had the OG ones from the 90s.

Tim Jacobus for sure only did worst than his competitor was Stay Out The Basement. Jim Thiesen's felt less goofy and it made you want to read the book.

Brandon Dorman's work isn't bad but they had big shoes to fill. Especially when it came to creating new covers despite the originals being iconic. But if you see his covers over time, he really mastered his style and knew how to create atmosphere like Tim. I even feel like his take at Haunted Mask 2 was much better than the original.

But Tim's will always be the standard in my opinion.

There was nothing actually scary about Brandon’s work. I’m 31 and still wanna read a few for the nostalgia.

The Tim Jacobus covers are a timeless treasure. People may disagree with me, but I think that the TJ covers for Stay Out of the Basement and Be Careful What You Wish For… are scarier than the original covers.

Wow, in virtually every single one of these, they had it right the first time.
