10 / 10 for trying to come up with a idea for bringing your kayaks with you when you go away I'm kayaking with years and it's the only way I can think of, if someone is into kayaking it's the only way is to build your van to suit your kayak, it's just a idea :) thanks for replying to my comment :)

Hi I use a motorcycle rack and load the kayak strapping it to the back door with a ratchet strap passed through the rear door upper hinges. Inexpensive and works very well - Ford Transit - Have also carried the kayak (mission flow surf yak) using a large diameter rope loop through the rear handle on the yak and simply placed over the tow bar no rack needed. Both methods do mean that you cannot open the rear doors but its easy to take the kayak down if you do need to. Cost using the rope loop is of course next to nothing. Pool noodle is placed between the kayak and the rear door, and its all very secure using a ratchet strap. South Australia.

I have a ford transit LWB med hight roof the back of my transit from the back of the drivers seat to the back door is 11 foot now you have 2 options I have a feelfree moken 10 kayak it's 10 foot 4 long by 34 inches wide, option 1 is when your building your camper from scratch you can build a box over the rear wheel arch running from the drivers seat to the back door it take over 1/3 of the internal with of the van you could slide the 2 kayaks in side by side at around a 30 degree angle this would be at the the side opsite the sliding door, you'd still have room for a big bed in the back for a big bed not only that you could put your kitchen over where the front of the kayak would be behind the drivers seat or you could have a single bed same place,
Option 2
Have 2 boxes running the lent of the van each side over the left arch and 1 over the right hand arch you could still have your kitchen on one side and a bed over the box on the other side this would be fine if you had a 2 seater van and you could go I to the back of the van from the front you would have a hall way down the meddle and you'd still have room for a big bed across the back of the van, having the kayaks pushed in from the back sideways if a kayak is 34 inches wide sideways over the arch would be prob b about 20 inches, the transit is 11foot long I'm sure all sprinters are way longer than that, iv looked at 100sof youtube vids and I haven't see 1 person come up with that idea yet and the kayaks would be out of the way and secure at night to

Is it legal to cover your license plate up? Some states the plate must be visible.

We have the same kayaks, one is 10', the other is 12'. Any chance we can get it to work. the 12' is for my 6'2" partner.

I'm sorry I can't get my head around it if them kayaks are 10 foot you failed to say from the road to the bottom of the kayaks is about 12 to 16 inches !!! Plus drag would cost more on fuel to

The racks are great but i can tell you from experience the security straps are useless up against a cordless grinder. Had 2 of my best boards stolen this way. If a thief wants them, its too easy.

My kayak is 17 feet. This is only for plastic kayaks for fishing. You should state that up front on in the titlle.

$2000 for some metal pipes, a hinge, and wire mesh? What a joke! Make this affordable. Its not rocket science. I will make my own. Welding is easy.
