Cloud in a Bottle - Cool Science Experiment

Показать описание
Have you ever wondered how clouds form? Clouds are formed when water vapor is cooled enough to form tiny water droplets. This is exactly what happens when moist air rises in the atmosphere, cools, and water droplets form into clouds. Making your own cloud is a popular experiment in many science books, but you should know that the results are not very striking. Yes, you'll see a very faint cloud (very faint), but it's a little tricky.

The pressure being released is causing the cloud inside, so as long as you can find a way to seal the bottle while pumping the air in it will work. Rubber stoppers just work easiest for this experiment. Hope that helps, thanks for watching out videos and if you use something other than a rubber stopper, post a response video showing us how it worked!

You can't smoke it because the pressure isn't heavy enough.

Plus, it messes with your systems because of the acohol  <--sorry spelled wrong :)

Use a cork from a wine bottle. Make a hole in the middle with a needle. Using a pin ( used for blowing up basketballs, etc) on your foot pump, stick it in the hole you just made. As long as the cork is snug on the bottle opening, you should be able to build up the pressure the same way. Once it's high enough, the cork will just pop out (if it's not TOO snug) and voila, instant cloud.

Steve! If you take an empty water bottle and twist it up to make a bottle cap rocket.... when you release the cap.. if you do it just right it makes a cloud! ive been doing that since like 7th grade and now you finally explained it to me lol i was always the only one out of my friends who was able to make the cloud! :D

"Rubbing alcohol" is usually a mix of water and isopropyl alcohol in the US, but it can contain ethyl or isopropyl alcohol or a mixture of the two. Another name for this is "surgical spirit". In the US, I get mine from Target's pharmacy section, and I get the 99% isopropyl alcohol. Any alcohol mixture should work. The alcohol vapor saturates the air in the bottle more quickly and thoroughly than water by itself will do.

I a earth science teacher and this is the best way I have seen this activity done. Most require matches and I don't like those around my kids.

Oh!!! That's fantastic! I could do this for a group of kids without using open flames! cool beans!
