Colloids

Показать описание
Colloids are a type of mixture that is in between a homogeneous solution and a heterogeneous suspension. They have particle sizes that are big enough to be visible, but the particles do not settle out over time. Colloids exhibit the Tyndall effect, and they scatter light. Also, colloids can't be separated by filtration. All colloids have a dispersed substance in a dispersion medium. Some common colloids are fog, smoke, foam, gels, and emulsion. The dispersed substance and dispersion medium can be solid, liquid, or gas. An emulsion is two immiscible liquids that are dispersed through one another. Colloids are like a homogeneous solution in some ways, but like a heterogenous suspension in other way.

I never get bored, distracted or in need of subtitles in this guys videos. The way he demonstrates and presents without using complicated words makes it so much easier to understand and motivational. With other youtube videos, they use words without describing it and powerpoints that are so boring. Wished Tyler DeWitt made more videos about every subject in chemistry

I was able to get 100%s on my High School Chemistry tests because of your videos - thank you SO much Tyler DeWitt! Now I am in College and I was actually excited when I found out I needed to take Chemistry this semester. I was looking forward to coming back to all the amazing videos I watched in High School in order to pass the class. THANK YOU!! You are doing INCREDIBLE things for this generation -- God bless you and THANK YOU!!

I almost quit school due to a bad chem professor (and tutor!), but Tyler got me through it and now I have a B.S. in science. Thanks Tyler!

This video should get much more play than it does. It's one of the better ones on this subject on YouTube. The other ones I found were more like watching people do their homework.

Really cool video introducing colloids! I used to feel slightly scared when I heard the word because it sounded very sophisticated, but your video really helps break the ice!
