‘The Role of Music Therapy in Mental Health’ is often a grappling subject; an aspect which deserves deeper and more frequent attention. Amira Gill conducted a session at the GMI campus which focused on how engaging with music- listening, creating, singing, improvising, thinking about music - affects our mind and mental health. The session also highlighted how the brain processes sound & why it becomes ‘music’, while also breaking down aspects of health in terms of hormones & neurotransmitters and how they interact with music.
Apart from information, the session also included an engaging activity with the attendees that helped personalize the context of the conversation in a more meaningful way.
