-At the age of 12 he taught himself how to code and sold a video game he programmed himself to a magazine company
-He read the whole Britannica Encyclopedia as a child which fueled his curiosities about the world and space
-He read the Bible, Koran and Torah as a 12 year old and deemed that he was not going to be religious but instead make it his life’s meaning to further consciousness to other planets, hence SpaceX
-He coded the first online map directory called Zip2 on his own and sold it for millions which is how he first became rich
-At the age of 30 he started SpaceX in order to fulfill his childhood dreams, by designing the reusable rockets with a team
-Musk is the chief engineer at SpaceX, meaning he sings off on all changes to the rockets and is a lead engineer in rocket design
-He is a lead design engineer at Tesla, and in the earlier days spent 80% of his time engineering the cars at Tesla
-Tesla has clearly had the largest profits in the auto industry at least over the last 1-2 years
-Musk also wrote a lot of the initial coding for PayPal before it was sold for millions
-Helped engineer Starlink satellites that now allow third world countries all around the world to have access to high speed internet, including cruise ships and airplanes

This is a tiny, tiny list of showing that Elon is not some “dumb” money-hungry billionaire.
Musk’s wealth was built off his own hard work and innovation, and his leadership of putting awesome teams together to achieve these accomplishments that help people all around the world.
Good reporting requires primary source research Jessica, you clearly have only looked at other’s opinions of Musk instead of forming your own opinion by hearing what he has to say himself.

And to clarify Musk’s beginnings with Tesla, although he is not technically considered a founder, he is the reason why they survived and thrived.
He was the initial investor to get it off its feet after Marc and Martin came to when they found out he had the same vision of electrifying vehicles in 2003.
By 2008 he become CEO and one of the lead engineers in vehicle design and manufacturing.
It was many of his key designs that lead to many of Tesla cars signature looks.
Elon is known for being an engineer’s engineer because he always keeps in mind how to scale manufacturing of a component of a design as he makes it.
Whereas most other companies will make a fancy design that is hard to manufacture at scale, Musk designs all the cars in mind with mass producing them.
