"Lost Kitten" Lyrics :::

[Verse 1]
Don't say yes if you can't say no
Victim of the system, say it isn't so
Squatted on the doorstep, swallowed all the blow
Leaving without you, can't say no

Halfway starts with happiness for me
Halfway house, lost kitten in the street
Hit me where it hurts, I'm coming home to lose
Kitten on the catwalk, high-heeled shoes

No more hot-headed Saturdays
They got it, they want it, they give it away
Tell me one thing you would never do
I was looking for a hooker when I found you

[Pre-Chorus]
You've got my eyes, you've got my eyes
You'll never be mine, ah, but you've got my eyes

[Chorus 1]
When you lie, I cover it up
When you hide, I cover it up
When you cry, I cover it up
When you come undone, I cover it up

[Verse 2]
So pent up, I was coming home to you
Happy in the night time, howlin' at the moon
Sippin' on a cocktail, drinking in the loo
There's something about you I hold on to

[Pre-Chorus]
You've got my eyes, you've got my eyes
You'll never be mine, ah, but you've got my eyes

[Chorus 2]
When you lie, I cover it up
When you hide, I cover it up
When you cry, I cover it up
When you're blind, I cover it up

[Chorus 1]
When you lie, I cover it up
When you hide, I cover it up
When you cry, I cover it up
When you come undone, I cover it up

[Bridge]
They got it, they want it, they give it away
They got it, they want it, they give it away
They got it, they want it, they give it away
They got it, they want it, they give it away

[Chorus 3]
When you lie, I cover it up
When you hide, I cover it up
When you cry, I cover it up
When you come undone, I cover it up

I actually do want this song to be popular as hell, because it definitely deserves.

The first minutes of this video were filmed in my neighborhood, Santa Maria la Ribera, in Mexico City, a few meters from my house and saw those recordings, but this time I thought it was filming a soap opera, or a TV commercial very exotic.

Metric certainly knows how to do it. It both depressed me immensely and uplifted me tremendously at the same time. That's art, the rest can go home.

I might be digging too deep but I feel this about crossing over after death. He dies in his sleep, he goes to the painting of Mother Mary, a note from his "mother" says she misses him and he begins his journey to find her. He wanders around like a lost soul because nobody pays attention or can help him until an elderly woman (Santa Muerte?) takes his hand and tells him where to find his mother. At the end of his journey he kisses the doll goodnight, closes its eyes like you would somebody who has died (letting go of his old life). Then follows the light through a hole and the light embraces him, he's then cradled in the arms of his mother like an infant as she smiles fondly down at him.

This clip is weirdly heart breaking. It's like a reminder of every lost soul out there who was once a child with hopes and dreams. Most of them never found their way back home.

And after 7 years I revisited this video and I can’t still not believe how awesome it is. It was ahead of it’s time

Okay so a few words about this song. I think that i know why so many people like this song. It makes you feel like waking up from this one dream that you lived your whole other life in. The song paired with right visuals (maybe something that will remind you of fleeting memories or the passage of time) makes you feel a sense of longing for that other life you never had.

The last image of her holding him is from the famous sculpture The Pieta by Michelangelo depicting Mary cradling the dead body of Christ.

I am Mexican and you do not know how exciting it is to see that this video is focused on Mexico City and especially on my great Xochimilco where I am from.

Just love from the beats, the lyrics to everything about this song. 🥰

I can't believe it's been 10 years since this album was released. What an awesome one it is as well.
I went to the concert here in Calgary after the album was released.
One of the best moments of my life.
Metric has forever changed my life in a way I can't describe. I've been a fan since 2003.
Their latest album "Formentera" is incredible! 🤘💕

when he was in the city, his jacket didn't fit very well, but when he went out into the nature and to the river it shone from the sun along with the reflections of the water - very beautiful 3:28
I don’t know why I was so taken by this jacket...

I'm seeing a lot of hate and confusion for this video in the comments, I however found it rather touching. The video fits the song perfectly, it's about a lost child (whether it be a kitten, man, woman ect...) looking for their Mother, or perhaps just someone that can comfort them. The comments below explains the story behind the dolls and really helps clear things up in the video, probably one of my favorite videos of theirs.

From the band e-mail: "In Rawal's reimagining of the archetypal heroic journey, Sheldon embarks on a mysterious pilgrimage through Mexico City and into the canal maze of Xochimilco on a flat-bottomed trajinera in search of his house mother, an “angel" in his memories. Upon reaching his destination, Sheldon delivers an epic vogueing performance (!) to celebrate his spiritual reunion with the maternal. His massive on-screen presence is only amplified by his bold attire: sequined jacket and kitten heels."
Just in case some people were confused about the video.

This song was ahead of it's time, can't believe it was released more than 10 years ago
