This method is confirmed to work on AT LEAST versions 1.11.2 through 1.16.1, we'll see what the future brings.
Have you ever wanted to play Minecraft using your conlang as the language of all texts? I know I have, so I figured out how to do it, just so I could show yall how to do it.

You can change the font used in your resource pack to allow diacritics.

as a conlang hobbyist / amateur minecraft youtuber this makes me so happy

Protip: iirc you can modify the font in minecraft. That would fix the limited character set (although I think it still has a very limited size)

for 1.18 you use 8 for the pack format number by the way

This is an incredibly specific thing I wanted to do for a while- I keep thinking of my conlangs when playing minecraft.

This was the ONLY video I could understand on this topic. Thank you SO much.

Wow, this is nice
(Btw, in bedrock you could access the language files, and you can change them for some language, or add a new one)

Just did it for 1.18.2 and it worked! Thanks for the video

I'm afraid I disagree with you, 1.8 was the last version released before the 15th of September 2014 and is therefore the superior version in my eyes!

That aside, I love that you can make custom language pack, and this is pretty easy to follow. I'd say, however, that you'd probably do better to say "go to resource packs, open resource pack folder, and go up a level to get your .minecraft folder" because the %appdata% thing isn't universal to all computers.

If you need to get or make special characters, you could use the private-use unicode area. (aka, unicode font file c3-ff have no letters in them; just put your characters there)
Edit: nvm; I think Minecraft is hard-coded to not use letters that don't exist in standard unicode (and also, the private-use area is actually e0xx)

Wow, that actually looks pretty easy! I already spent crazy amounts of time conlanging, guess I need to do this too XD

Funny i found this, I'm currently bringing my childhood conlang into mc myself! However I'm using custom unicode characters so i can have all my funny letters. Typing in hexs is hard though

Only complaint about this video: 1.12 is in no way superior. :p The latest version is always the best, it has all the things, and it is (because it is the most current version) inherently future-proof.

is there any possible way of getting a completely custom symbolic language that does not appear in any language to work in Minecraft

I litterally have a completed custom symoblic language that i can only type in Wordpress and note pad but it appears as Squares in minecraft

This is awesome!
Would you be able to show how one would do it for Bedrock Edition?
