The evolution of Khalipa has been simply awesome. Just his new style of competing and how he's matured is just inspiring.

I can say, what an AWESOME guy! He was one of my Level 1 trainers in 2009! I learned from one of the BEST! Thanks Jason!

I was anxious to see this video once I saw news of it on Jason's IG. All I can say is Jason, you are a Legend!

Jason Khalipa is an amazing competitor and trainer.  Anytime I saw a workout announced that slightly favored the smaller competitors I always wrote Jason off (legless rope climbs, sprints, long runs, hspu) but time after time he would prove me and everyone else wrong.  Seems like a real cool dude, best of luck to him and his family.

The California Bear will be sorely missed from the individual competition!  Class act and true representation of what all Crossfitters should be like.

we are witnessing a turning point in crossfit games history right now. everyone was chasing rich, and now he's not going to be there, I think some of the top dogs are feeling deflated this year...maybe a win at the Games wouldn't mean as much now rich isn't in the mix. also teams are now offering salaries. doesnt take a genius to figure out where the best athletes will be putting their effort.

I believe the heavy weighted power-lifting is responsible for his sore joints and muscles. Crossfit originated as more of a cardio vascular endurance based competition. Yes, powerlifting was a part of the games but not to the extent that it is today. I don't blame Jason for moving to the team based competition side of crossfit, he grew as an athlete while competing against Rich, and a win at the games wouldn't mean as much if he wasn't going against him.

quitting because the competition is stressful? the open announcement is stressful? really? what is there on the line? what about a weightlifter at the Olympics that has been training 10 times a week only for that moment since he was 8... if he makes the lift he gets a pension for life and hundreds of thousands of dollars.. if not he has nothing. How does the stress of the open announcement compare to that?
