The action starts at 1:35

I was hauling a load of asphalt along the Beaverbank Road near Sackville, Nova Scotia, when this happened.

A north bound oil truck trying to make a left turn was yeilding to me as I headed southbound. A black Dodge Caravan was stopped waiting for the oil truck to complete his turn when a Silver Matrix rearended the Caravan.

No one was hurt in the crash, but there were school aged children in the vehicles.

Could have been a lot worse if one of the cars veered into my lane as there was litterally 1/2 a second of time to react.

guitarguy940, at the time of this incident, I still had a valid MFR tag.  MFR is a Medical First Responder course that REQUIRES me to offer medical assistance to anyone who may need it.

I doubt it would ever go to court, but if someone said that they seen this truck (the only one like it around) witness the crash and drive away, I could have been held liable for not offering life saving assistance should that person be hurt seriously.

I used the truck to block the lane because if someone came speeding around that corner and wasn't paying attention (seen it MORE than once while I served in the fire department back home) then they would most likely crash into the two vehicles, injuring the victims more, as well as anyone responding for help.

I would rather that "idiot" slam into the front of a 26 ton rig, than hit and kill innocent victims.  We do the SAME thing with the fire trucks.

I am not trying to sound like a douche, but if it was you that rear-ended someone, and were seriously hurt, wouldn`t you want someone like me, with extensive training and experience, stop to help...possibly save your life?

I do appreciate the questions, views and interest.  Thanks for watching.

Nice to see the driver pulling over to at least ask them if they were ok; You know.. "hey I saw you crashed, are you ok do you need anything? call some one? No?, ok well glad to know you're fine, bye!".. A lot of ppl just dont give a damn and ignore whatever happens around them because "its not their business"

It is good that no one was injured in this accident. It appears that the vehicle that rear-ended the other vehicle was possibly not paying attention.

@guitarguy940 To add to what the videouploader said; In Norway, if you are among the first people to a crash scene, you HAVE to stop. You HAVE to do everything you possible can to help, which includes calling emergency services, first aid and taking control of the situation. If you don´t, you could expect prison.

Norwegians do it like this (by law):

Stop your car in a safe distance, block the road if needed, put your emergency lights on. Your car should be placed in a way that lets emergency services come as close to the crashed vehicles as possible.

Then, you shoud ensure your own security and get a overview of the situation, as well as calling the emergency services.

Now, you have to help any hurt people while waiting for the EMS.

It´s a reason why getting a liscense in Norway is so expensive. We have strict roadrules. And yes, EVERY Norwegian gets first aid training. (I have had it three times, and i´m only 18, the last time I did it was when I was taking my liscense.

Have a nice day :)

Exactly! I have been in three separate accidents where I was NOT at fault. One while I was sitting still in MY LANE in rush hour traffic and an SUV crashed into MY truck. He said I merged into his lane, and the ONLY reason I didn't get charged was because I took pictures with my cell phone the second it happened.

I learned that a picture says 1000 words, so a video must be a chapter book.

I have the camera running anytime my trucks/cars are on..even while being service at the shop!

If you live near there, I most likely paved your road this summer. I hauled hundreds of loads through the Beaver Bank road this summer. Not a bad drive, but it's nuts how people drive on that road.

They are either going 40 under the limit, or 40 over!! lol

I've been hauling a lot out of Conrads lately, truck and trailer...it's a whole new ball game when you got 44000 kilograms pushing you along...about 97 000 pounds!

It doesn't appear the Matrix even tried to stop until the last second, but I suppose it's hard to tell. Luckily he made the right decision in staying in his lane and just rear-ending the other car. Like you said, it would have been much worse if swerved and had a head-on impact with your truck.

+goofyexponent *Head-in-the-bucket syndrome, I reckon.* Driver of the Tōyōta Matrix must've been distracted, as the brakes engaged around Time 1:45 this vid.
