The Altra Lone Peak 7 has gained popularity as a good wide foot-friendly zero-drop trail running shoe.

As a fan of Altra shoes, I was super excited to put the Lone Peak 7 to the test. I'm getting more into trail running and in the Altra Lone Peak 7, I've tackled some really fun easy, and moderate trails.

In my Altra Lone Peak 7 review, I'll cover all of the key details that you should know about this model.

Overall, I'm a fan of the Altra Lone Peak 7 and I think it will be a good trail running shoe for beginners and intermediates.

I also really like the width of this shoe and that it's comfortable for walking and hiking.

That said, there are a few concerns I have with this model, for example, its durability is pretty "meh" and I don't know if its sizing will work for everyone.

I’ve had good luck with the Lone Peak 6 regarding durability (many trail runs and one dinosaur dig 🦖), but have had mixed luck with other Altra models. For road running I have shifted mostly to Puma (Pumagrip rubber is the absolute business) and Topo (does much of what Altra does but with a range of 0-5mm drop and Vibram rubber for the trail shoes). Good review!

Bro beside the review of the shoe, I really enjoyed the visuals. Felt more clearer & like i was actually there. Using the truck as a backdrop (clever)

Great review! I have that delamination problem with every shoe I own. I always have a tube of Aquaseal in my freezer at the ready to patch things up. I do love all the Lone Peaks I've owned but I actually prefer a shoe with less stack height and the same fit for running. I live in Japan now and it's hard to find much in my size (29).

Will you please do a review of your tent set up on your truck pls

great review. IMO, Altera are great because they have zero drop and wide toe box. their upper is too lightweight. it would be nicer if they can make the upper more rugged, but that would make it heavier.

Ya used to hike alot more and I've destroyed a pair of shoes in a week before so I'm probably going to look into some older models.

Great review bro. I picked these up in a 10.5 and 11. 11 is a little bit roomy in length. 10.5 is good in length but may be a touch short. Any tips on deciding on ideal length? I run ultras so it’s gonna be pretty high mileage. Thanks for any tips on this

Always glad to watch your videos mate! You're the first person to bash this shoe..everyone else raves about them lol. Which would you choose for daily wear and light hikes: Altra Lone Peak 7 or the Lems Primal Zen? Would you say the latter is more durable? Thanks again Jake!

also have durability issues...not with the delamination but the fabric itself ripping by the inner toebox. admittedly clipped some rocks a few times while hiking/running, but still only lasted me about 1-2 months

Hi Jake,

Do you think the lone peaks would work for CrossFit?
I have flat wide feet so that big toe box, 0 drop, and wide sizes make this shoe look enticing.
The front and mid overlays look good for extra toe protection and rope climbs.
Also, that extended outsole looks good for handstand push-ups and locking into the Concepts 2 rower.
If these features are only cosmetically good for CrossFit, what would you recommend?
I wear the NB Minimus TR Boa in 12 wide which I love but they’re too small and the size 13 is too big.

Thanks for your time.

Had the exact thing happen on my pair after my first run! This is the second pair of Altra in the past year that has fallen apart.

Jake,

Can you please review the Puma Liberate Nitro 2?

Reviewers saying it's flexible, low to the ground, drop feels closer to 4 mm and it has good ground feel. And super light.

Seems solid for all but elite lifting and intense crossfit workouts; might be perfect for 3-5 mi runs post workout.

Thank you!!

I agree that the lone peak 7 is too wide, I have been wearing the Lone Peak line since the 4.5's and so far those and the 6's have been the most comfy, with the 6's being my favorite.

I'm looking at Altra LP7's for my trail running, I use Hoka bondi's for road running and they have very VERY high build quality. The pics of LP7's I've seen just falling apart give me pause, although there's a LOT of new pairs for less than $100 on various clothing sites, so I might take the gamble. I'll still tread carefully, pun intended.

What would you say about getting these for all around casual wear and cross training at a gym? No rough terrain for me except sidewalks with sand on them.
