That "you are useless" came from the homelander section

Cody saying “you are useless” out of context is crazy💀

Dusty Rhodes said the same thing to DDP back in the 90s

“You are useless! Your life is meaningless! You serve zero purpose!”

Turns out heel Cody isn’t Homelander it’s Low Tier God

I get where he's coming from, but I think the idea that not striving to be the best means settling for mediocrity only occurs when one lacks self-awareness. I have no doubt that some talent know and accept that they will never be the face of the company but will still do their absolute best as a mid-carder.

Every company needs a Brooklyn Brawler or Curt Hawkins. Some are just meant to enhance the other talent.

Which is exactly why people started booing Cody in AEW. His words not mine. He said he never will wrestle again for AEW world title. So we boo'ed. Hoping he would take the hint. Turn heel and take the gold. Be the face that everyone was saying he was. He went to WWE and became the face there. It's not an L for us. It was just rough getting there.

I get what he means but at the end of the day it is also an industry of entertainment and some guys are totally happy to be the comedy guy or the jobber or whatever as long as they make great entertainment. What's not to respect about that?

That said, there is a lot of value in guys like Ziggler and Kane who spend almost their entire careers as king-maker obstacles to getting to the top. Yes, they might get a couple of runs, just to keep their credibility high, but the very act of the losing MAKES the guys who DO make the top table

Damn straight. I love the take, and couldn't agree more. Bet on yourself and want the most for yourself. Like he said, you may not get it, but damnit, why wouldn't you want to try and see if you can become that? Especially if it's a dream that sounds crazy. Why not try for it? You may not get it, but damnit, it's so much better than never trying at all and wondering "What if?"

Funny Dusty said the same to DDP when he said "Theyre never going to put the world title on me" and Dusty said "Then what the hell are you doing it for then? if you dont believe you can be the world champion you need to get up and get out of the business now"

People who don’t want to be world champion have probably came to that conclusion because they know they won’t ever be. You need guys to be comfortable with the fact they aren’t the top guy, otherwise you’ll have a very unhappy roster

Nuh, hard disagree. Some people just dont want success, in the legacy or financial sense. Some dudes just wanna do what they do cause they simply love what they do. For some people, as soon as you start to wrestle professionally you've made it, you're contempt, you don't need to strive for higher standing. Thinking everybody wants fame and greatness and to be the numero uno guy is just tunnel vision and very close minded truthfully, it's not self deprecating to not wanna be at the top of the food chain.

Some people are going to be midcard for life and that's okay. Not everyone can be booked to be world champ, and at least they're living out their dream too.

Thing is that humbleness is a very valuable trait. It's very respectable. It's very unfortunate that competitiveness struggles to reward it.
