Preparing your Pets for Hurricane Season

When making your emergency plan, remember the preparations needed for your furry family members!

~Your emergency kit should include a three-day supply of food & water for each pet, collars & tags, leashes, crates, vet & adoption records, items for cleaning up pet waste, and a family photo with your pet.
~If your family is evacuating, check what hotels along the route are pet friendly.
~Find a local vet near where you plan on staying in the event of an evacuation and include their address and number in your emergency contacts list.
~Acquire a first aid kit for your pets; this includes a reference book for animal first aid.
~Talk to a neighbor about setting up a buddy system if disaster strikes when one of you is away from home.
~If possible, get your pets vaccinated before the start of hurricane season to ensure they are up-to-date during a sudden emergency.
