There are a couple of ways to achieve this requirement.

Through customevents we can achieve this, but we need to make bubbles to true & we should not use handler on parent (c) & grand parent (B) . Through lms we can communicate in between any lightning component & lwc & visualforce page . And there is no need of any connection between them as lms itself will become a bridge to share the message . So i think when there is connection in between components, we can use custom events bcz we dont need to create a message service channel . If the data need to transfer to other components where no connection is there in between & where we can not create a connection, in those cases will go with LMS. I understood it this way, please help to correct if i misunderstood anything .
