Resistors in Electric Circuits (9 of 16) Combination Resistors No. 1

Показать описание
Shows how to claculates the voltages, resistances and currents for a circuit containing two parallel resistors that are in series with one other resistor.

In a series circuit, the current is only able to flow through a single path. In a series circuit, the current is the same throughout the entire circuit. The voltage in a series circuit is divided across each of the resistors. If one of the resistors in a series circuit stops working, the current will not be able to flow through the rest of the circuit.

In a parallel circuit, the electrical current flows through multiple paths before returning to the power source. The voltage drop in a parallel circuit is the same across all of the resistors. In a parallel circuit, the current is divided up through each of the resistors. If one of the resistors in a parallel circuit stops working, the other resistors in parallel will be able to continue to working.

A resistor limits the electric current that flows through a circuit. Resistance is the restriction of current. In a resistor the energy of the electrons that pass through the resistor are changed to heat and/or light. For example, in a light bulb, the tungsten filament acts as a resistor that heats up because of the current going through it, causing it to glow. Ohm’s law, V = I x R, states that the voltage drop across a resistor is equal to the product of the current flowing in the resistor multiplied by the resistance of the resistor.

At the first watch I was like But then I watched it again paying more attention and was like: BRO THIS IS LITERALLY THE EASIEST THING EVER

I'm watching your circuit videos the night before a big test because I didn't pay attention to lectures, because my teacher is a spaz and is all over the place. But I have to say, you are TOTALLY saving my grade. Thank goodness for you

thank uu, literally i was soo stuck before this. I had watched a ton of "How do calculate the voltage drop in circuit videos"', but for some reason i could never find ones, where the circuit included both parallel and series and how to calculate INDIVIDUAL VOLTAGES AND CURRENT. Like, before i only knew how to calculate the total current and resistance in combination circuits, this helped a lot in terms of findind those for individual resistors:) Made so much sense, when you explained, so thanks a shit ton, u saved my grade ahaha

This video was instrumental in me finally figuring this out. Thanks for posting it. Some other explanation I found before had you "stretch" the circuit out into a straight line, and for some reason start with series resistors and all kinds of convoluted junk. Think was just straight to the point, and I especially loved that you didn't assume any knowledge. Even taking the time to briefly explain the thing about the reciprocal, but without beating a dead horse for people who already knew what it was.

I'm Currently doing a electrical engineering course and i was struggling too understand our Resistors in electric circuits worked, it wasn't that my teachers were bad i just struggled too understand the information but after this video ive learnt more than i need too know and now i feel confident for my semester exams that are happening this week for my course

Thanks for all the help and being more understanding!

Well explained. I've spent about 5 hours thrashing this all out, so thank you! Wish I'd found you first.

I had so much trouble understanding the concept of parallel circuits receiving the same voltage specifically in combination circuit problems, but I finally understand!!! Thank you
