New Era, the world’s leading sports and lifestyle headwear brand, is proud to announce the launch of the 1980 Collection, as part of its on-going Heritage Series which celebrates key moments in time during the brand’s 96 years of authentic sports heritage. The six-piece collection replicates every detail of the caps worn by the chosen teams’ baseball players during a highly significant year in baseball history.

Arriving in stores on 4th March 2016, the 1980 Collection celebrates a momentous year in baseball when world records were broken. The World Series, Major League Baseball’s annual championship series, welcomed two teams who had never competed in the final until this moment. After winning in six games, the Philadelphia Phillies claimed victory against the Kansas City Royals during a televised game that attracted over 54 million viewers – a record that has never since been broken. The remaining teams - Houston Astros, New York Yankees, Montreal Expos and Oakland Athletics – all competed in the semi-final rounds in 1980.

The headwear collection mirrors every detail seen on the field during that game and are re-mastered with traditional team colours, flat stitch embroidery, 100% wool fabric, blank white taping on the inside panels and sweatband, lot numbers for sizing and inner labelling with historic New Era branding from that era. The Heritage Series sticker on the visor is a special reference to the year and unique offering of this highly limited Heritage Series collection.

New Era should bring these back, but they should make them true to the time period. No flag on the side, flat stitched team logo and batterman (or no batterman depending on the year), white sweatband with the retro logos, and ofc 100% wool

Take out that stupid New Era stitching. You already have your name on inside the band. This is why I only buy Cooperstown Classics or authentic old ones.
