One financial expert compares today’s situation to that of before the French Revolution- an elite minority paying no taxes with the burden on the shoulders of the poor. Have we come full circle? Have we circled back to imperial France?

The tax Haven/the offshore system is project of the world's wealthiest and most powerful people and they will always be pushing for this system to exist and the challenge is to get the people to push back against that and to understand how it's happening and to know how to push back.

The price we pay looks at the how’s.

"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered...I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies... The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs." Thomas Jefferson.

Taxed to where you couldn't save a dollar. Same for many millions of families born in the fifties. When we got working age, we saw how things worked. All the taxes being taken from our small paycheck. An it never ended. We raised kids without child tax credits. Being married and living together was punishment. Taxes chipped away money we could have used for a better life. Then of course there were all other taxes after your pay was taxed. Car tag, driver's license, property tax, taxes on utilities, tax on everything you bought, especially groceries, hunting and fishing license, holding your breath when you filed taxes every year, not knowing if you will owe because you took on a second job during Christmas holidays so you could buy your kids a few gifts, only to have to pay it all back what you had earned. It was like borrowing money, tho you worked for it. Never could afford a new car, always a used one, and drove it until it was just gone. No vacations, just go to work, until one day you can't, for you've worked yourself to near death. Then you have to fight to get disability, tho you're sixty years old, and done in. Trying to hold on with one paycheck now coming in, as Dr bills keep rising. Hard! Yep, as they say, always a pay check away from loosing everything.

Note that this documentary was made in 2013!!
But yes, it's very well-informed indeed, and still all very relevant today as the whole system crumbles at an increasing rate...

There’s mostly no middle class anymore there’s the rich and the not rich with the gap getting wider with both the poor getting poorer and the rich getting richer simultaneously

And people praise billionaires and millionaires for their success, which was largely built on the backs of working and poor class.

If you are watching this from the UK ....it is typical that companies don't pay because of loopholes made legal through tax law

The amount of taxes not paid by billionaire is mind boggling and is proof of economic inequality. More people need to see this video

It occurs to me that it is likely that the formation of the European Union suddenly made it possible to be able to deal with transnational corporations on a considerable more equal footing than any of the individual countries on their own. Brexit may have brought things back to where they were, with the citizens of the UK suffering in the process. I suspect that if journalists dug around, they would find the funding for political and ad campaigns came from these very financial firms this documentary is illuminating.

When that man says he refuses to pay 50% of income to taxes must be nice to have choices to opt out...meanwhile many pay 50% or more of their income on housing, electric, gas, and food because everything is so high

The Atlantic did a very in depth article about this starting with countries from a few hundred years BC. When you eliminate the middle class the country implodes. Every time.

I wish this was the most popular video on YouTube.

The guy in the tropics with the great tan and short, he was talking about 50% taxes as if it was clearly unreasonable. But it's only unreasonable if you're not making 25 million a year (or more). Farmers know that you have to nurture the soil the crops are grown in with fertilizer and water. But transnational corporations exist in countries that provide opportunities to succeed - No one succeeds in a vacuum. Tax laws should be given 50 pages to explain and detail those laws. If they're so complex they require 50 huge books, something is wrong. If it's possible for a company to have a valuation and profits measured in billions, paying zero in taxes should be illegal; it's automatically unethical.

What worries me is that my retirement, a 401k plan, is dependent on the financial markets. A robinhood tax in theory, seems like a good idea, but in reality will translate to more 401k fees and less growth. Even that firefighters pension fund is going to be invested in a hedge fund like Blackrock that relies on the financial market health. Here in America I would say we have a bigger problem with our all too powerful judicial system that is driving the cost of living through the roof. Saving the middle class is going to need to take a multi pronged approach.

What we need is an IT wizard to get this documentary programmed simultaneously onto every TV channel and internet platform throughout the world and hopefully wake up the masses to protest and revolt against this corruption!!!!
