Make sure your package name in the json is all lower case! Took ages to realise I had that wrong. Package wouldn't show up in the editor until I fixed it. The details are in the naming your package part of the Unity manual.

Been using UPM for a while now, it's been great. I've re-structured almost all my code and previous prototype projects to now use UPM packages.
But I'm having trouble with GIT urls and WSL1 installation, so I ended up using local packages instead (package is in a folder outside the project folder and then added from disk). Only downside with using local packages is that it doesn't install the dependencies when adding the package. It's very annoying.

A future tutorial on scoped package registries perhaps?

to load from private repos you need to include credentials in git url

Can someone please explain what 3:39 "Visibility in Editor" is? What does "Editor" refer to? The package manager? the packages folder in the projects panel? if the menuitems will be visible? It can't be any of those, because my package is visible in all of those

A re-import of the project may be required to fix the issue or a manual modification of file
