Italy Announces Provisional Squad for Euro 2024
- Italy has announced its provisional squad for the 2024 European Cup. The defending champions only have 10 names left from the team that beat England at Wembley three years ago.
A total of 30 players were called by coach Luciano Spalletti to undergo a training camp ahead of the tournament. This number will be reduced to 26 people, according to the quota limit given.

Inter Milan as Serie A champions this season sent six players, the most compared to any other club. They are Matteo Darmian, Federico Dimarco, Alessandro Bastoni, Francesco Acerbi, Davide Frattesi, and Nicolo Barella.

Next there is AS Roma represented by four players, followed by Juventus, Napoli and Torino with three players. Bologna, Lazio and Atalanta sent two players, the rest came from Genoa, Hellas Verona, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain.

There were no significant surprises from this announcement, except for the appearance of Nicolo Fagioli on the list. The 23-year-old young man only appeared again when Juventus held Bologna 3-3 last week after serving a seven-month suspension due to illegal gambling.

This squad is classified as green, with the highest number of caps belonging to Gianluigi Donnarumma with 61 appearances. Then only Darmian, Barella, Jorginho and Federico Chiesa have played more than 40 times. However, that doesn't mean Gli Azzurri lack experience.
There are still a number of past Euro 2020 winners in this team. They are Donnarumma, Alex Meret, Bastoni, Acerbi, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Barella, Jorginho, Bryan Cristante, Chiesa and Giacomo Raspadori.

Italy is in Group B with Albania, Spain and Croatia. Before leaving for Germany, they will first face Turkey and Bosnia-Herzegovina in trials to be held on June 4 and 9 to finalize the squad.
