Direct proportion and inverse proportion are huge topics in GCSE maths, which you'll probably meet first in year 9, and then again in year 10 and year 11.

In this episode, we're looking specifically at direct proportion, and will cover inverse proportion in the next video.

So, what is direct proportion?

Direct proportion is when two values are connected by a formula, such that if one increases or decreases, the other does exactly the same.

We explain the concepts of direct proportion, including the proportion statement and proportion formula, show you what is and isn't a direct proportion graph, and finally take you through some direct proportion GCSE maths exam style questions!
