The Truth About Autism Treatment

No medication can improve the core signs of autism spectrum disorder. No cure exists for autism and there is no one-size-fits-all treatment. The goal of treatment for autistic children is to reduce the symptoms by expanding your child's ability to function and support development and learning. The earlier a child begins therapy, especially during the preschool years, the more it can help your child learn critical social, communication, functional and behavioral skills.

If your child is diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, talk to experts about creating a treatment strategy and build a team of professionals to meet your child's needs. ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) Therapy addresses the range of social, language and behavioral difficulties associated with autism spectrum disorder. Individualized therapy, focuses on reducing problem behaviors and teaching new skills. It also focuses on teaching children how to act in social situations and communicate better with others. ABA Therapy can help children learn new skills and generalize these skills to multiple situations through a reward-based motivation system.

Depending on your child's needs, speech therapy to improve communication skills, occupational therapy to teach activities of daily living, and physical therapy to improve movement and balance may be beneficial and can be added to your child’s program.

Success on the Spectrum has a proven track record of helping hundreds of children learn to live happier and more productive lives.

There is a diet and there are therapies that do help too. So please don’t discourage all the parents trying their best but yes, it is important to be wise about whom to trust

Thank you for making this. Certainly there are ways of learning how to minimize being overwhelmed day to day but curing autism would be like saying you can cure dyslexia. You learn how to work with dyslexia. You mitigate the hardships, you learn how to properly cope. That doesn’t mean you are cured. Every day is different.

My kid has autism and trust me therapy helps a lot. It’s a long process but it’s affective. Within a year he went from very few single words to full sentences conversation. I’m not trying to change him. He will stay a person with autism for rest of his life. I’m just helping him to express himself because the more he’ll learn to communicate the easier it will be for him to express his emotions.

What if I'm an adult and just figured out that all the issues I've had is autism. What do I do to help already being an adult?

This video should be played on a loop because many parents need to hear it! I’ve been ridiculed by class mom’s claiming ABA is cruel and damaging. I am present for all my son’s in-home sessions and assure you that no abuse is happening. In the real world, my son may not always get to take his turn 2nd, peers may not want to play tag for hours, or recite birthdays of all the kids in class. ABA has taught him patience, breath deep to channel frustrations in a safe way, and how to go first without a meltdown. These life skills will help him live an emotionally healthy life.

I would give anything to be able to give our child ABA THERAPY. It's so expensive. I can't afford it
