"human mobile devices" sounds like a front for an alien company

The rounded bezels on a rectangle frame are horrendous, but the user repairable design is nice

Not only do they save a bunch by not needing people for repairs, they also save since people don't want to send in their phones imo. I rather pay my self for the parts, than missing my phone for a longer duration of time.
Love their approach.

As someone who works with a lot of tech and has to repair computers, phones and tablets, I would love for this phone to go mainstream. I Have so many repairs and most of the repairs could be done by the user. They are just afraid to do it.

brilliant concept from HMD
self repairability for the customers
less after sale service hassle for the company

Fantastic company policy. That's what consumers should demand from the others.

Nokia-HMD phone user here. The HMD Skyline comes with Android 14 with only 2 years software updates. It came out during the summer here in Germany for €500. The repair stuff is great BUT the cost for only 2 updates was not a good selling point 📱

If only the HMD Skyline was available in Lumia 1020 neon yellow...

One smartphone that falls into the same category you might wanna try is the 'Shiftphone'.
It is made by a german company and also fully repairable and water proof. There is also some kind of 'deposit system' and fee, that you need to pay and get back when you return the phone. Also >7 years Android updates. And the company tries to produce the phone fair, so fair payment for employees (also in China).

If it had a headphone jack I'd pick one up immediately (I work with music and audio editing, Bluetooth just isn't up to snuff), but as it goes this is ticking every other box. I may get one when my current phone dies, if there isn't anything better on the market by then. Definitely gonna recommend this to friends tho 💙

Now if it is supported by custom ROM, perfection!

The shape of the phone reminds me of the Nokia N8.

4:08 The 720p LCD display is unacceptable for a $300 phone. Absolutely unacceptable.
