I bought Pro Q 3 and was given a free upgrade to 4 since i bought it the week before 4 came out. I was also keeping an eye on Soothe 2 but got pro q 3 instead and now I have a resonance suppressor. What a great Xmas.

Something I noticed in your video that I tried for myself is that the sidechain input is now PER band/filter. In Pro Q 3 the sidechain input affected ALL bands at the same time. I contacted Fabfilter about that and they confirmed. So this is a very WELCOME - and useful - change!

For now, I'll use Pro-Q 3 for smaller tasks where Pro-Q 4 shows no improvement, simply because Pro-Q 3 is still lighter on CPU. But who knows if FF optimize it further.

Hey Streaky. Unrelated to this video but I just wanna say thanks for the tutorial. Especially on understanding EQ. I just started mixing my own vocals and I can see a difference.

If I get this much value already, I wonder what I can achieve with your deep dive mixing course. Hopefully soon, I’ll be able to get it!

Pro q4 is a great tool.. I use it for sure. But for Rock Blues Country and Pop Rock, this is definitely not enough for equing... After q4 you really need pultec, api, neve or ssl... Uad stuff... Thx Streaky for your perfect demo as usual !

The spectral mode for the low end works so well on bass. I would argue that it works better than soothe2 on low end dynamics

Pro-Q4 is excellent. However, Tone Boosters EQ Pro, has far more filters than Pro-Q4 like ambiance, transients, sibilance. Worth checking out as it far more affordable also. Not plugging any plugin, worth comparing. EQ Pro can definitely replace a couple of other plugins like Split EQ and Soothe.
