Amazing that Ringo was so sickly as a kid, and is now healthy and super-fit nearing 80.

I think John and Yoko were coming home from a recording session when he got shot. I don't believe he went out for dinner that night.

The fact that this band at times would have 4 or 5 songs in the top ten list for the week is really all you need to know about their greatness. Simply phenomenal. We'll never see their like again.

5 minutes and 45 seconds. That is what is tragic. A band that became famous worldwide, 1963, let's say. Then parted realistically 1969. Six years. The body of work in that time frame is phenomenal. It was beautiful. Love their "tragic"lives . Yes, Lennon's death was awful. Not deserved But he lives on iconically. I would take that. Peace .

George was actually traumatized over Beatlemania his whole life - the rest were relatively fine with it aside from being fucked over by various people from time to time for being awesome

The fact that you had to actually explain lennon's death just shows how time is moving on so fast... and that the kids don't know what was once written in stone.
Kids..these people where showbiz legends greater that you will ever know.
My wife lectures in marketing and often uses the Beatles as an example...half of the 1st year students say they have never heard of them.

The part about John Lennon’s death is incorrect. They weren’t at a restaurant, they were instead recording “Walking On Thin Ice” at the studio.

I believe you need to include the effect the death of Brian Epstein had on the band, especially John. For the years following the point their fame took off, Brian was the one who made many, if not most, of the decisions concerning their professional and personal lives. His death was especially traumatic to John.
Then there was the impact their dentist had on them, because of the electric tea he served the Beatles one night after dinner! Before that moment, the world was in black and white, and what was to come after was in technicolor! That’s when the rest of the world began to experience life in Technicolor as well!

Why is everything posted on this site tagged with the moniker “Tragic”; yes, John’s death was tragic; George’s untimely death from cancer was great loss, but I would not describe the collective music-making experience of the Beatles as a group as “tragic”-not at all.

not gonna mention that Paul McCartney’s mum died when he was 14? (The songs Yesterday and Let it Be are both about his mum if anyone’s curious). also not gonna mention John Lennon’s mother also died when he was a teenager I see. It was actually a source of bonding between the two. Paul knew what it was like to loose a mum, so he helped John through it as best he could. I think that’s why they were closer to each other than to Ringo or George, though they all loved each other for sure.

I’m a Beatles nerd if you didn’t notice.

I just saw Paul McCartney live and Ringo and Joe Walsh walked on stage and played. It was heavenly.

Tragic was how much John care about his first born son.

One of the greatest expression of freedom and individuality . The tragedy is those who fail to be tolerant of people who live by their own choices and who have an ability to have an amazing gift of artistic expression.
