3 dead, 3 critically injured from train, car accident in East Chicago

I remember seeing this on the news. In fact, another incident just like this happened the same weekend on Metra’s Rock Island Line. An inbound train was going 79 mph through the intersection of 107th and Vincennes. A family of three were in a car, when the driver chose to drive around the lowered crossing gates. The train approached, and killed all three people in the car. These incidents here show that it’s important to wait until the train has passed and the crossing lights stop flashing. You will never beat the train. It can take up to a mile for a train to come to a complete stop. Remember to think smart when around a railroad crossing

I used to live two blocks away from the train .... I passed by there every day and I would see people go around the I'm so glad that I moved away from east Chicago Indiana.... Rest in peace to the three of the family 🙏🙏🙏

Wait a minute, Two train accident in the same day in the Chicagoland area, with fatalities. Very very strange, You had the incident in Beverly with Metra, and this one. All trains must have been halted that day, because a train was stopped on the track for and two hours from 103rd street north past 95th street a few blocks west of Wentworth Av, that same day.

I’m wondering what CSX locomotives were leading? Hopefully they’ll be repaired soon... probably just minor damage to the plow front railing and the crossing lights, I mainly just wanna see the footage if the lead locomotive has a black box...

Oh Lord let your guardian angels watch over the deceased injured family and friends blame will come later. May we learn something from this senseless tradgedy.
